Affirmative Imperative

In an affirmative imperative, object pronouns are placed after the verb and connected with hyphens.

  • Donne-le-moi. (Give it to me.)
  • Montre-les-nous ! (Show them to us!)
  • Parle-lui-en ! (Talk to him about it!)

Negative Imperative

In a negative imperative, object pronouns are placed before the verb.

  • Ne me le donne pas ! (Don't give it to me!)
  • Ne nous les montre pas ! (Don't show them to us!)
  • Ne lui en parle pas ! (Don't talk to him about it!)

  • Explique-le-leur ! (Explain it to them!)
  • Ne me la montre plus ! (Don't show it to me anymore!)
