The passé composé is a tense frequently used in French to express completed actions.Formation of the past participle
The past participle of first group verbs is formed by replacing the -er ending of the verb with -é. The structure is thus: Subject + auxiliary avoir in the present tense + past participle of the verb.
- chanter : j'ai chanté (I sang)
- parler : tu as parlé ? (Did you speak?)
- aimer : elles ont bien aimé (They liked it a lot)
