The present indicative is one of the most used tenses in French. It is used to express an action that is happening as we speak. The verbs chanter and manger follow the regular conjugation of first-group verbs, which end in -er.

Conjugation of the verb chanter

  • Je chante
  • Tu chantes
  • Il/Elle chante
  • Nous chantons
  • Vous chantez
  • Ils/Elles chantent

Conjugation of the verb manger

  • Je mange
  • Tu manges
  • Il/Elle mange
  • Nous mangeons (note the e added to preserve pronunciation)
  • Vous mangez
  • Ils/Elles mangent
